After a long wait, Raspberry Pi 3 Model B has finally got a successor. Raspberry Pi Foundation has released an updated version of the hugely popular 3 Model B on Pi day 3.14.2018.
On the outside. the updated Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ looks pretty much the same as the previous model, but inside a ton has changed. The biggest changes are:
- Faster 1.4 GHz processor - The clock speed has been increased from 1.2 GHz to 1.4 GHz. The model of the CPU is BCM2837.
- Gigabit Ethernet - The ethernet circuit is now 1000M but the maximum output is around 300M, due to the USB circuit that is shared with the Ethernet
- Wifi is now both 2.4 & 5 Ghz - The so-called Dualband functionality has arrived to the Raspberry Pi
- PoE functionality - Much awaited Power over Ethernet functionality is now included in Raspberry Pi
We have also updated all of our Raspberry Pi models and starter packs, they all now include the new B+ model.
